11 July/2007: FilmStrip 2.0/DX is now available! If you are a registered owner of FilmStrip 1.xx/DX and did not yet receive an update email from us, please contact us so that we may send you your free update to version 2.0! Thank you all for your support!

[] an introduction to FilmStrip!

FilmStrip is the easiest slideshow package you'll ever install and manage! Though it was originally intended as a slideshow solution, FilmStrip easily doubles up as a compact image gallery because of its various modes of functionality, least of which is its ability to present your images within multiple categories, with each category offering a thumbnailed index for visitors to navigate if they choose to!

Forget about tedious Flash setups or manual slideshow/gallery creation! FilmStrip installs in seconds on your server and is ready to go instantly, with a graphical interface designed for everyone to understand!

[] features

There are two versions of FilmStrip available. Most of the features listed below are only available in FilmStrip DX, while the freely downloadable FilmStrip LE provides basic functionality. The interface is otherwise identical and the LE version can be instantly upgraded to the DX version just by replacing the free version's main program file with the DX version.

works as a combined slideshow/gallery program
compatible with all major, modern web browsers
compact interface, can be viewed even at lower monitor resolutions
interface can be adjusted any time for 400px, 300px, and 200px high images
absolutely no annoying Flash implemented anywhere
multiple & unlimited slideshow/gallery categories
quick and easy to install, no source-level configuration required
instant, remote updating of FilmStrip through the admin control panel
super-easy to operate, with built-in help sections available for all functions
customizable color schemes via admin control panel
batch uploading via admin control panel
images are resized and thumbnailed on-the-fly
image copy protection makes it more difficult for your photos to be downloaded
custom pages for any other information, embedded within the FilmStrip interface
and much more!

[] server requirements

unix/linux-based or WindowsNT-based server
PHP version 4.3 or greater
apache version 1.3 or greater
GD v2.x image library installed and enabled
php.ini file should have 'safe mode' and 'magic quotes' turned OFF

[] live DX demo

Once the demo is loaded below, click the blinking down-arrow in FilmStrip's upper-right corner to navigate to different image galleries and sample information pages. As you can see, the FilmStrip interface is compact enough to easily be embedded in your existing web pages, even in multiple web pages with different galleries initializing for each page!

As of FilmStrip version 2.0/DX, there is the ability to display a smaller interface, with the server recreating the original full-sized images for the smaller display setting (in other words, the images are not just downsampled through the browser, which otherwise would result in poor quality). Version 2.0/DX now also provides three optional ways of displaying the filmstrip (thumbnails) bar, two of which are overlaid on the full-sized image and hidden unless the mouse is hovered over the image, and the third option defaults back to the static, always-on 1.x filmstrip bar. Click any of the links below to refresh the demo with one or more of the alternate settings activated...

large display: overlaid filmstrip || overlaid + stacked filmstrip || classic (v1.x) filmstrip
small display: overlaid filmstrip || overlaid + stacked filmstrip || classic (v1.x) filmstrip
