Encaps PHP Gallery

EncapsGallery is multipurpose skinnable php gallery software, does not require php or mysql skills for install and run, but requires strong HTML skills if you'd like to customize it.

1. What is EncapsGallery?

EncapsGallery is a set of PHP scripts, which help you to create images catalogue in the Web within 15 minutes, even without any PHP programming or HTML designing skills - there are 5 predefined ready to use HTML templates. It is multipurpose and flexible for skilled HTML designers - just modify one of templates with your preffered HTML-editor software. There is also XML-formatted output, which you can use as RSS feed, or source for FLASH gallery. Optional PayPal integration adds shopping cart features.

3. How to install php gallery?

3.1. Download the latest zipped package (it's about 150K): http://www.encapsgallery.com/encapsgallery.zip

3.2. Unzip and upload files onto your web-host: UNIX/Windows Apache + PHP+GD (PHP GD library is advisable for generate dynamic thumbnails, but not necessary if you will upload static thumbnails), or Windows IIS + PHP+GD. Also configured Mysql database server is required to run Encaps scripts.

3.3. Set up permissions for the "config.ini.php" file and "rwx_gallery" directory: set mode 777 (rwx rwx rwx) for let web-admin modify config file or upload images:
right-click on the directory "rwx_gallery"

next click "properties" and check on all checkboxes

the same procedure for config-file "config.ini.php"

3.4. Configure your php gallery - run "admin/catalog_cfg.php"

3.5. Install the database tables - run "admin/catalog_db_install.php". The script does not create the database - it connects to the existing database and creates the database tables.

3.6. Manage your galleries - run "admin/index.php" and create/edit categories (galleries), upload media files (jpg,gif,png,mov,swf). There is possibility to upload files with web-interfase, or batch upload with ftp client software - you are able to run scan-script "admin/catalog_scan_rwx.php" and assign new uploads to selected category
